This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the Xfinity Motors website, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. Our use of cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and, where a cookie processes personal data, the UK GDPR.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It is sent back with each subsequent request, which lets the site recognise a returning browser. We also use two related technologies: local storage, which keeps data in your browser without sending it automatically, and session storage, which does the same but is cleared when you close the tab.

Categories we use

Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off through our banner.

• Session and authentication. If you sign in to the administration panel, a token identifies your session. Without it you would be signed out on every page load.
• Security. A short-lived token protects forms against cross-site request forgery, and a rate-limiting identifier prevents automated abuse of the enquiry form.
• Consent record. We store your cookie choices so that we do not ask again on every visit. This one is unavoidable — remembering that you declined requires remembering something.

Functional

Set only with your consent. These remember choices you have made so the site behaves the way you left it.

• Saved search filters and sort order, so returning to the catalogue does not reset your criteria.
• Recently viewed vehicles, used to populate the "recently viewed" row.
• Light or dark appearance preference.
• Preferred distance units.

Analytics

Set only with your consent. These help us understand which listings are viewed, where visitors leave the site, and whether a change we made improved anything. Analytics data is aggregated; we do not use it to identify individuals, and IP addresses are truncated before storage.

Marketing

Set only with your consent. If enabled, these allow us and our advertising partners to measure whether an advertisement led to a visit, and to avoid showing you the same advertisement repeatedly. We do not use them to build profiles for sale to third parties.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by services we embed rather than by us directly — a mapping provider showing our locations, a video player on a vehicle walkaround, or an analytics provider. These are loaded only after you have consented to the relevant category. Each provider's own policy governs what they do with the data.

Managing your choices

You can change your preferences at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer. Withdrawing consent stops further collection and asks the relevant providers to remove data already associated with your browser, though we cannot guarantee a third party acts on that request.

You can also control cookies in your browser. Every major browser lets you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or clear existing ones. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and the enquiry form; blocking the others will not stop you using the site.

Most browsers also offer a "do not track" or global privacy control signal. Where we detect a recognised opt-out signal we treat it as a refusal of analytics and marketing cookies.

How long they last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies used for preferences last up to twelve months. Analytics identifiers last up to thirteen months. Consent records last twelve months, after which we will ask again.

Changes

If we add a cookie in a new category, or change the purpose of an existing one, we will update this page and re-request consent where the law requires it.
